Designer Bill Mitchell’s styling and influence within the Chevrolet styling studio was partly due to his curiosity with marine life. At the center of the 1963 Corvette Coupe's legacy is the car’s split- window back-glass design, a design inspired by a stingray’s fluid motion. A little over 21,000 Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays were built in 1963, with production split roughly 50/50 between coupe and convertible models.
This car is one of only 2,610 coupes built with the optional L84 fuel-injected, 360 horsepower engine. The 1963 Stingray was not only a commercial success, but was hailed by the automotive press as one of the best Corvettes of all time.
