Here was the plan: Make a valuable restored 1953 Pre Series A bent window Porsche 356, build it to race and rally spec by gutting the interior, then install a full cage that can survive a steamroller smashing.
Add fire-rated race seats, a six-point harnesses and lexan windows for weight savings, save for windshield. Build a shifter that can take a race beating so at the end of an event, it’s not like stirring paint trying to find a gear. Fabricate a sizable race tank in case you have to put pedal to the metal on transit and can't stop for petrol.
Work the motor and transmission to be bulletproof and build a suspension that can keep race pace with 600 pounds of clothes, luggage and spares inside. Fabricate skids that can take a high-speed highway flogging, then get all the requisite gauges to keep one eye on performance.
